SilvIA Earth joins the ESA BIC Madrid Region programme
25 September 2026
SilvIA Earth begins its journey in the European Space Agency's incubation programme in the Region of Madrid, a step that strengthens the development of its wildfire prediction platform.
SilvIA Earth has joined the ESA BIC Madrid Region programme, the European Space Agency (ESA) business incubation centre in the Region of Madrid, run by the Fundación para el Conocimiento madri+d. A milestone of special importance for the team, which has worked from day one to apply space technology and data to a first-order problem in Spain and Europe: preventing wildfires.
A programme to bring space technology to market
The ESA BIC network aims to drive the creation of companies that apply space technology in non-space sectors. During incubation, participating companies receive specialised technical support and become part of an ecosystem of companies, institutions and research centres linked to the sector.
It is the natural environment for a platform like ours, which estimates wildfire risk from Earth observation data and artificial intelligence. In this stage we will keep consolidating our model and advancing towards its deployment across the territory.
Prevent rather than respond
This programme adds to our incubation at the C3N-IA, the UC3M Science Park. Both give us a technical and scientific environment in which to keep developing the platform and prepare its deployment, with an idea we have been clear about from the start: wildfires are best fought before they start.
Acknowledgements
We thank Carlos Romero Moreno, whose support and guidance are proving especially important in this new stage, and the entire ESA BIC Madrid Region team and the Fundación para el Conocimiento madri+d for welcoming us into the programme.
SilvIA was born to use the data that already exists and artificial intelligence to identify changes in the territory, anticipate the wildfire risk in each area and help protect it. Now we take one more step to keep developing that vision.
Anticipating risk is the first step to preventing it.
